Mamarazzi Monday

Q: How do I get my subjects eyes to light up? Sometimes they look so dull.

A: The light in eyes is called "catch lights". It's a reflection from light. The best way to achieve catch lights in your subject is to turn them so the light source is reflected in their eyes.
When I was just starting out, I would turn my subject in a circle, following their eyes until they lit up. The more you practice the better you'll get at finding them naturally.
In this example, I turned my subject toward my light source.
